Quick cleansing update

Okay, so things got a little busy over the past 7 days. Joel came off the cleanse on day five. We went to the grocery store (Trader Joes) and I made him some vegetarian butternut squash soup (box soup but really good), noodles and he picked up some sushi. He seemed much better with food in his belly.

I just finished day 10 myself. Today is fresh juices and tonight will be spinach salad! Tomorrow is a vegetarian supper club... Not a bad way to end a fast/cleanse/whatever. Overall I had really great success with the diet. I feel so much better. I had great energy throughout the course of the cleanse. My neighbors video blogged their cleanse. They tell me I was an exception to most all the rules. You really are supposed to miss the food. Today is the first real hungry day for me. I think a lot of it is knowing that I will eat but having to postpone it.

Also in the news is a forecast of snow accompanied by a weekend of work... quite the double yuk on that. Luckily, the weather here is not that cold and things should clear with relative chaos.

Day 2

Wow! I am sleeping so well. I have experienced poor sleep due to indigestion for a while. I really have been less than judicial about my food intake for the past year and a half. Glad to be reclaiming that. I am waking up rested and not in a bad mood at all. I found that the worst time for me is the afternoons. That is also good to know for future diet planning. I will completely restructure my eating habits.

The morning was a rush of work. I took the 2nd juice around 8:30 and the 3rd at 12:30. I am thinking that today maybe a 6 or 7 juice day. Tonight may or may not be trivia night, depending on what my companion has in store for me. There was a suggestion of a "crunchy date place" but I am not sure what that would be. Crunchy dates are not on the master cleanse diet. Neither are stuffed dates or date nut balls for that matter.

Will have to see what awaits me this evening.

Day 1

Okay, so really it's day 2 but I need to cover day 1...
Consumed 5 glasses total. The recommendation is 6-12 glasses per day. No dips in energy... if anything MORE energy and no yucky "I just ate" or rather "what did I just eat?" feelings.
Washed dishes and enjoyed not making any dirty ones.

I experienced the salt water bath, which is NOT a bath. It is more of a flush. I thought drinking the saltwater would be pretty gross but I didn't mind it. The recommended amount of salt:water is 2tsp:quart. I used 3 (just incase). It worked! In 15 minutes things were moving right along. My neighbor took 4 hours to finish her bath, mine took about an hour and a half. Good to know!

Ready for day 2!

Night of a thousand lemons

Okay, so I am doing this blog in case I need to keep my mind off of going crazy during the Master Cleanse. There is a website for it if you have never heard of it. You can also google it or for more fun, google and have a good chuckle on your way to the toilet to throw up. It’s not so much the subject matter, it’s that most of the people are holding their matter which is purely nasty.

So, yep, tomorrow is DAY 1 of “ the cleanse”! I am really excited to do it. I think it will really make me feel a lot healthier. My companion, on the other hand is a bit nervous. He really enjoys food and I am a great cook. Ten days without food is going to be special for both of us. I LOVE lemons!!!

The last supper is going to be Golden Bowl (housemade from the GRIT Athens,GA recipe). Again, I think I am more excited about the Ciao Bella Blackberry Cabernet sorbet for dessert than the meal itself.

A couple tasks in my path for the next 240 hours consist of an event walkthrough, 2 meetings, 2 performances and 72 hours of work. During that period, I will dive deeper into the diet, myself, my life and all that other typical boring stuff in the life of someone recently described as “an onion”.
